Steering Committee

Our Steering Committee is comprised of dedicated volunteers committed to the mission and vision of the InKind Baking Project. Teams and responsibilities are listed below.

Partnerships & Requests

The Partnerships & Requests team builds and sustains meaningful partnerships while stewarding mission-aligned requests for volunteer engagement. Duties include:

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with organizations, businesses, and community groups.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for partners.

  • Educate partners on InKind processes and procedures.

  • Review incoming requests for baked goods and evaluate alignment with InKind’s mission.

  • Translate approved requests into volunteer opportunities using PlanHero (or other tools) in accordance with SOPs.

  • Facilitate clear communication between partners and volunteers as needed.

  • Ensure a consistent, positive experience for partners and clear expectations for engagement.

Treasurer

The Treasurer is responsible for managing the financial affairs of InKind Baking Project and ensuring transparency and accountability. This role may be fulfilled by the chair if the position is vacant. Duties include:

  • Budget planning and organizational financial forecasting.

  • Monitoring and reporting income, expenses, and financial transactions.

  • Maintaining financial records.

  • Facilitating reimbursements.

  • Chair the fundraising drives.

Chair

The Chair provides leadership and direction to the steering committee and ensures that InKind Baking Project fulfills its mission effectively. Duties include:

  • Represent InKind as and perform the duties of Project Director with fiscal sponsor.

  • Presiding over meetings, setting meeting agendas, keeping meetings as needed.

  • Facilitating communication and collaboration among committee members.

  • Representing InKind Baking Project in external matters and partnerships.

  • Providing guidance and support to other committee members.

Membership & Engagement

The Membership & Engagement team is responsible for growing, supporting, and connecting the InKind Baking Project community. Duties include:

  • Recruit, onboard, and retain volunteers.

  • Maintain and manage the volunteer database, including responding to new membership inquiries.

  • Develop strategies to grow and sustain an active membership base.

  • Plan and lead member-focused events and gatherings (e.g., Whisk & Wisdom).

  • Foster community-building and connection among volunteers.

  • Provide resources, communication, and support to members.

Communications & Media

The Communications & Media team shares the story, impact, and opportunities of InKind Baking Project while ensuring clear, consistent communication across the organization. Duties include:

  • Develop and execute communication strategies and campaigns.

  • Create and share newsletters, press releases, and promotional materials.

  • Manage and update website content.

  • Oversee social media strategy and content (posts, graphics, video).

  • Capture and share stories—photos, testimonials, and partner highlights.

  • Support internal communications, including shared documents and records.

  • Serve as Steering Committee secretary, coordinating agendas and recording meeting minutes.
